Happy Life Habits (HLH) is again supporting Mental Health Awareness Week (MHAW) and the theme of Anxiety.
Mental Health and anxiety is about what is going on inside with our thoughts and feelings. We all feel moments of anxiety due to various things which can include health, work, loved ones, money worries, exams and life/world events.
You are not alone in feeling anxiety. It has been show to increase in recent years.
According to a survey by the Mental Health Foundation 25% (1 in 4) adults reported feeling anxious.
It's how we cope with it that matters. HLH has a dedicated Mental Health WhatsApp group as part of its Community. During MHAW we will share daily tips, quotes, resources to cope with anxiety.
On Thurs 18th May we have:
(1) Gratitude for Wellbeing Workshop for Mind in Enfield & Barnet
(2) MasterClass on Coping with Anxiety 8-9pm on Zoom

Mental health affects how we think, feel and act. It also determines how we handle stress, relate to others and make choices.
In this session, which we are hosting in partnership with NHS and Brent Council, we will explore Mental Health, Loneliness and Isolation and how this impacts our lives.
We will be joined by Ama Haden, Trainee Clinical psychologist, Hinda Sharif from the charity Rethink Mental Illness and Shaileen Shah from Happy Life Habits.

About this event
So following on from the Mental Health live, with Shaileen, Varsha and Manish Gohel, we will be holding a workshop to discuss Men and Mental Health.
Although titled, Men and Mental Health, this will be an event where both Men and Women are welcome.
Mental Health and Men often goes a miss, maybe because it's probably harder for Men to speak up, or when they do, they are seen as possibly weak. Well at the workshop we will be discussing how we can all work together, both Men and Women to share experiences of how useful it actually is for someone (Man or Woman) who struggles silently to speak up, reach out and get support.
Below is some information about Men's Mental Health
Three times as many men as women die by suicide.
Men aged 40-49 have the highest suicide rates in the UK.
Men report lower levels of life satisfaction than women according to the Government’s national wellbeing survey.
Men are less likely to access psychological therapies than women: only 36% of referrals to NHS talking therapies are for men.
Nearly three-quarters of adults who go missing are men.
87% of rough sleepers are men.
Men are nearly three times as likely as women to become dependent on alcohol, and three times as likely to report frequent drug use.
Men are more likely to be compulsorily detained (or ‘sectioned’) for treatment than women.
Men are more likely to be victims of violent crime (1.5 more likely than women.)
Men make up the vast majority of the prison population. There are high rates of mental health problems and increasing rates of self-harm in prisons.

Last year we supported Mental Health Awareness Week (MHAW) in various ways on each day. This year we will support MHAW. If you are aware of any resources or events please do let us know by 25th April so we can include them in an article before MHAW.
We have a free 21 Day Simple Living Challenge that will start on 10th May. Each day you get an email in your inbox with a thought, reflection or action and you can go onto the kindspring platform for the challenge and share your experiences and read the other participants. I found these challenges a brilliant support during the pandemic and lockdown months.

This free talk with Asian Parents Club (APC) as a pre-cursor to Mental Health Awareness Week will take place in the APC Facebook page : https://www.facebook.com/groups/asianparentsclub
In addition to the support and services during MHAW for companies, corporates and organisations previously shared on posts (I have personal experience of work related stress in a corporate environment); we are supporting you, the individual with these free services and resources.
